I currently have access to ebsco host and other academic data bases through a community college. If I am able to locate it, how do I post it?
Copy and paste?

My point is clear. Perhaps now one can go to law school. Also, I assume you are male. Something sounds inauthentic to me. Univ. of Florida, while not the best school, is a decent school. I find it hard to believe that a faculty member would endorse this survey. Stating that you are an active Witness, but qualifying that your heart is not into it, skews the results of everyone who takes the survey. From the terse exchanges of the internet, I cannot know the truth. I'm not the only one to suspect a hoax.
When you publish your thesis on an internet forum, you open yourself to criticism. If I am wrong, I am sorry. Personally, I prefer devout Jehovah's Witnesses over someone who is active in a cult but thinks not taking it seriously is admirable. My perception is my perception. You cannot judge it. The wording of the questions indicates a lack of knowledge necessary for the task. It is difficult for me to place myself in college and evaluate what my skill set was at the time. In my mind, the problem is not either one of us but the dubious nature of internet interactions. Engaging in this repartee skews the results even more.
I don't think you should be punished by being a Witness. Law school might cure. The Socratic method is a good learning device. The difference between college and law school is great. Law school was great for me. No one wishes you ill.
It seems strange that the Society would endorse Witnesses taking a survey for nontheocratic purposes.
Such is the world of the WT and its peculiar culture. Since I was female, I could get a part-time job as a nurse's aide or retail sales person. My father wanted to pull me out of high school to bag groceries. I fought for my very life to get an education. Later, I worked on landmark U.S. Supreme Court decisions and helped people in legal services setting. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. College was mocked in my day. It was an object of derision. Why go to school when the big A. is coming any second?

Jesus' Physical Resurrection = Take the Ransom Back?
by InterestedOne inin my "study," we have encountered the matter of whether or not jesus' physical body rose from the dead.
i brought up a couple of scriptures that seem to indicate physical (john 2:18-22 and john 10:17,18).
the jw's i am "studying" with explained how, although those verses may appear to indicate physical, jesus couldn't have meant that because if he physically rose from the dead, he would have taken back the ransom.. now that i know the wt reasoning on this, can someone point me to another source, link, book, article, etc.

Yes. When I was young, I thought God wrote it on gold tablets. Maybe I confused it with the Book of Mormon. One of my favorite Christian authors discussed my then hatred of Paul. His wording was unfortunate. If he knew he were writing scripture, he would have been more careful.
The point about nonrecognition of Jesus runs consistently through the resurrection accounts. The breaking of bread one makes sense from a Eucharist view going backwards. I expected a physical Jesus. My mind often wonders what he thought or believed. People could write clearly in classical times. Perhaps they could reason better than now. The gospels could be clearer. All the stories remind me of the constitution. Maybe the vagueness is purposeful.

Perhaps you can cite this as an example of paranoia from former Witnesses. Would you will be willing to have a prof. at Univ. of Fla. vouch for your course work? Obtaining a student email is easy. One phone call could confirm the situation.

Now I am wondering. It strikes me that one can get just an accurate sampling from any source. Going to law school is an extremely unWitness activity. How do you get sworn in to the bar without taking an oath? So do you have a job at Bethel guaranteed? I assumed their lawyers were lawyers who converted which is bizarre in itself. The thesis takes object to the Witnesses stated neutrality by proving through random? interviews that Witnesses are social conservatives. First, the conclusion just sounds so obvious. Maybe I will call the Univ. of Fla. tomorrow.
The questions stunned me a bit. It is hard to gauge. My thesis was so sloppy when I evaluate it from years of further education. Would a poli. sci prof approve such questions? The Internet is smoke and mirrors.
The Witnesses can be neutral in many ways yet favor entitlement programs. Lawyers may have strong feelings against a client and yet still represent the client zealously. The hatred must be extreme to qualify for disqualification. Murderers and rapists deserve defenses.
I don't understand why someone would voluntary assert they are a Witness but are questioning the culture at this website. A regular poli sci student would not identify themselves as a Witness or former Witness. The word of mouth is that colleges have dumbed down. Weird.

I'd be humble about entering a top law school. Many factors, besides your merit, determine that outcome. I was able to grad from NYU with a full scholarship. There is a difference between practice and law school rankings. Yale, for instance, graduates brilliant philosophers. I find them hard to work with b/c they tend not to stay in the concrete.
Law is adapatable. A large segment of my class never practiced law. We had dancers, Broadway musicians, PhDs, novelists -- a good mix. Diversity is one important element. I would think you could write a stunning piece on how you are JW and how it affects your decisions. It helped me be awarded the scholarship. I mentioned that my family was JW and that my mom had been expelled from high school b/c of the flag salute issue. I recruited potential students for the scholarship program my third year. I was on a panel of judges, including federal Court of Appeals judges and journalists. The program was important to me but it was controversial nationally. Selecting students with views similar to my own was important. I walked into a room full of applications and freaked. Hundreds of files were strewn about a tiny office. Within half an hour, my choices were clear and limited. The good candidates seemed to leap off the pages of their application.
If you truly want to be a lawyer, go for it. There is such a surplus of lawyers in the market yet hardly any regular folk have access to legal services. B/c of the economy, I imagine future recruiting lines will be more fluid. I am not curently employed b/c of disability and fear the future. Looking back, though, I am so glad I attended law school. It fit me much better than college did.
It isn't that hard, either. The problem is the competition. Most schools grade with a bell curve. The difference between an A and an F was merely a few points. The biggest problem I saw is that everyone is an A student when they enter, then they have to adapt to being C or B students. Students with better grades seemed more organized rather than brighter.
I will leave my tel. number through pm.

I always and still believe the physicality of Jesus' resurrection is important. What is the difference between resurrecting a spirit and resurrecting an idea? Contrary to my expectations, only a small part of me is drawn to gnosticism. How does a spirit suffer and die? It sounds as these NT authors were writing by consensus. Yet the adoption of four gospels seems to acknowledge the different emphases of each author. These aren't side teachings, such as beards, aluminum pans, blood. It is the very core of their teaching. Perhaps as a child, I did not understand the differences. How many people out there no about the Councils and refinements of dogma?
Did Russell relate this teaching? It just seems a bit bizarre. Of course, it makes as much sense of orthodox Christianity. I am not judging it is veracity. It would be great if there could be a control group to read sundry scripture without any pre-existing beliefs or bias. I studied NT at Columbia as an undergrad. The Witness in me craved it. Greek was a requirement which defeated any ideas of going further. I just took as many courses as a non major could take. I know I've related this before on this forum. Elaine Pagels said that Carl Jung says we project our wishes and fears onto Jesus, regardless of the actual accounts. She has write down five adjectives to describe Jesus quickly. As we went around the room, only the male Orthodox Jews had correct descriptions. I decline to even say what I wrote down. Altho I no longer believe, the rush made me revert to Witness views. All the accumulated hours studying Jesus and I could not write down five items.
I've had so many problems with my body that I wonder how that impacts my view. It has always been inconvenient to say the least. I was imprisoned with utterly agonizing pain for decades. Pain is so pressing that I can't just take a gnostic view. Part of me disassociated to cope. I do believe there is a spark within humans, not tied to the physical universe.
Sometimes it seems as though our culture has just erected a Chinese menu God with whatever we find useful.

I've tried hatha yoga in a gym. There was no spiritual aspect to it. It did not even seem foreign b/c it is so mainstream now. Later, I attended a kundalini yoga class at a major university. The instructors were zealots for the religious aspect. Kundalini was harder. My body changed so much during the session. The temperature of my body was all over the place. Most of it was intense breathing exercise.
I live in not so great suburbs now. Hatha yoga is available but not in a sustained way.
For some reason, I never feared demons in yoga; I fear demons. Growing up in NY, public television broadcast a daily yoga show. It was a spartan show. Demons did not dance around. We use arabic numerals. They are from a pre-Moslem Arab culture that worshipped many gods. Many people practice numerology. The world is rife with similar items.
Doing yoga is gutsy for an active Witness. Enjoy.
